Grammar School 入場劵, 11+ 是什麼?

上一篇講過, 英國現在只剩下164 間Grammar School,
如果想讀完小學升Grammar School,
就要係Year 6 時的9月考11+ Exam
呢個試唔一定要考,
諗住考就要係Year 5 Year 5 時的5月報考
除左分數, 地址都係收生因素之一
所以如果一心想小朋友入讀Grammar School,
就要好好佈署了

那11+ 係考D 咩呢?
主要, 分為4大類, Verbal Reasoning, Non-Verbal Reasoning, Maths & English.

Verbal Reasoning 主要考英文既推理邏輯之中, 又分為以下21種試題

02 – RELATED WORDS
03 – WORD-LETTER CODES
04 – CLOSEST MEANING
05 – HIDDEN WORD
06 – MISSING WORD
07 – LETTERS FOR NUMBERS
08 – MOVE A LETTER
09 – LETTER SERIES
10 – WORD CONNECTIONS
11 – NUMBER SERIES
12 – COMPOUND WORDS
13 – MAKE A WORD
14 – LETTER CONNECTIONS
15 – READING INFORMATION
16 – OPPOSITE MEANING
17 – COMPLETE THE SUM
18 – RELATED NUMBERS
19 – WORD-NUMBER CODES
20 – COMPLETE THE WORD
21 – SAME MEANING

Non Verbal Reasoning  是圖像推理

數學, 考以下唔同範圍

• The 4 basic operations: addition, subtraction, multiplication and division
• Fractions
• Decimals
• Money
• Metric system
• Time
• Prime numbers
• Prime factors
• Highest common factor and lowest common multiple
• Perimeter and Area (Squares, Rectangles, Compound Shapes)
• Averages
• Distance, Speed and Time
• Column graphs
• Pie charts
• Algebra
• Angle calculations
• Co-ordinates
• Reflection and Rotation
• Percentages
• Simple ratio
• Volume of cube and cuboids
• Bearings
• Simple probability
• Nets of shapes
• Sequences and number patterns
• Marking and interpreting scales
• Following rules and instructions in more unusual problem solving and investigative activities

最後, 英文就考以下範圍

• A comprehension exercise consisting of a two page piece of prose followed by 18 questions about the content
• 4 further questions about the meaning of words used in the test
• 3 questions asking pupils to identify the grammatical type of words used – nouns, verbs, prepositions etc
• 8 questions requiring the child to identify spelling errors in sentences
• 8 questions requiring the child to identify errors in the use of capital letters and punctuation
• 8 questions where the child needs to choose the best word from a list that will complete the sentence

Other types of paper usually feature some (or all) of the following tasks:

• Ordering words to make a sentence
• Punctuating sentences with capital letters, full stops and question marks
• Placing words in alphabetical order
• Finding the odd words out (Similar questions appear on many Verbal Reasoning papers)
• Opposites (Again, these feature on Verbal Reasoning papers)
• Rhyming words
• Ordering sentences to make a story
• Use of capital letters, full stops & question marks
• Simple compound words (Also found on Verbal Reasoning papers)
• A ‘Cloze’ exercise, requiring the child to fill the gaps in a sentence (usually from a bank of words provided) to make it read correctly
• Comprehensions: Read a passage and answer questions of fact, simple inferences, sometimes in sentences (“standard format”), but more typically in multiple choice format
• Write an essay/short story within a limited time frame – often 20 or 30 minutes, sometimes 50 minutes

就算本身係英國讀書, 因為小學既學習範圍其實唔包含11+ 既內容

我唔知道如果住既城巿有Grammar School, 學校會唔會教和操試劵

因為我住既城巿沒有Grammar School, 所以學校唔會幫小朋友報11+

亦唔會教11+ 既考試內容

我有帶哥哥出去學11+ (9月開始到今年3月LOCKDOWN 時)

本來應該今個月報名考11+

不過就算考, 一來未必考到 (11+ 既英文都幾深, 尤其VERBAL 呢部份)

二來, 就算考到, 屋企去學校, 一程都要45分鐘, 來回個半鐘

如果讀屋企附近呢間, 行路不用10分鐘

而且呢間中學亦係區內數一數二

我地都覺得讀附近呢間會比較好

如果真係報11+, 主要都係想睇下佢學成點, 同埋當進修下英文

始終佢到英國未夠一年

雖然我覺得佢聽同講都OK, 

至少同老師, 同學溝通無問題

但到要做功課時, 就覺得佢英文都仲係差少少

詞彙唔夠多

作文時又用唔到唔同詞彙, 語法, 連接詞

文章太單調
